According to a group of mathematicians, it may be possible to create devices with internal tunnels that are invisible to detection by electromagnetic waves—wormholes, in a sense. The group discusses the idea in a paper published in the October 29 online edition of Physical Review Letters.
The scientists say that by custom designing the values of two parameters that describe electromagnetic (EM) materials, the electrical permittivity and magnetic permeability, around and inside a cylinder, a novel optical device could be produced. Essentially, most of the device would be invisible to detection by external EM radiation of a certain frequency, with only the ends of the cylinder being visible and accessible to the EM waves.

War has historic links to global climate change
Climate change and conflict have gone hand-in-hand for the past 500 years, a study reveals.
It is the first time that a clear link between war and changing global temperatures has been identified in historical data, according to the researchers involved. The results are also significant because some experts predict that current and future climate change may result in widespread global unrest and conflict.

Nestling in the foothills of the Alps in northern Italy, 30 miles from
the ancient city of Turin, lies the valley of Valchiusella. Peppered
with medieval villages, the hillside scenery is certainly picturesque. But it is deep underground, buried into the ancient rock, that the region’s greatest wonders are concealed.
Here, 100ft down and hidden from public view, lies an astonishing
secret - one that has drawn comparisons with the fabled city of
Atlantis and has been dubbed ‘the Eighth Wonder of the World’ by the
Italian government.

‘Pray Over’ at Philippine Consulate No Effect on ‘Possessed’ OFWs
Chaos and confusion reigned again at the shelter for distressed OFWs in Jeddah last night, with at least three wards “possessed by the devil” for the fifth consecutive night.
And welfare officers of the Overseas Workers Welfare Office (OWWA) are apparently running out of remedies.
“We’re doing our very best to provide comfort to those affected and to keep the rest calm. We were told that such goings on here occur either during or before the Ramadan season,” said said Digna Diaz, one of the welfare officers assigned to take care of the shelter’s more than 50 wards.
